Susan McCadam Hoffman
M.S., Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 200), A.C.E. Certified Personal Trainer,
Health Fitness Corporation Program Manager, Spinning Instructor,
Pilates Apparatus and Mat-certified Teacher
Susan’s career path as a health and fitness professional was set when, in middle school, she laced up a pair of boys sneakers and trained with the boys track team.
Using skills she developed as an A.C.E.-Certified Personal Trainer, her classes and wellness programs teach to individual goals. In the words of a dedicated student, “Susan’s exhilarating workouts push you to your
limits and the payoff is awesome!”
Prior to opening Mat Madness Studio in Portland Maine, she was the Health Fitness Corporation Program Manager at SABIC-IP in Selkirk, New York. She also developed and delivered wellness programs and taught classes for NYS agencies, corporations, local school districts and colleges throughout the Capital District of New York State for several years.
As a yoga-pilates instructor for students and faculty at Sage Colleges, her fondest moment was being asked to introduce children participating in the Autism Spectrum Community Project run by the Russell Sage Occupation Therapy Department to the abundant joy of yoga.
In February 2010, she was invited by a former client to take Mat Madness on the road. She spent an invigorating weekend teaching yoga and pilates to the intrepid women of Block Island who are the heart and soul of such a magical place.
Her involvement with the AJKUN Ballet Theatre (www.ajkunbt.org) dancers during their summer residency program at EGG Performing Arts Center included assisting individual ballet company members in the development of core strength and stamina to complement a rigorous dance training and performance schedule.
As a former Faculty member of the Resonanz Albany Singer Intensive Festival (www.resonanz-rasif.org) hosted at the College of Saint Rose, she offered daily yoga classes to highly-gifted opera students. Through the integration of holistic health methods and voice instruction, founder Heidi Skok, formerly a mezzo-soprano with the Metropolitan Opera, created a unique method for training tomorrow’s great singers.
To better understand and work with people who have limited vision or are legally blind, Susan approached the Northeastern Association of the Blind at Albany and developed a Pilates program specific to the needs of such individuals.
Susan brings with her an intense passion for the overall health and well-being of all the people whose lives she touches. It is with gratitude to her many teachers that she is able to carry the work forward.
